THE FEEL

Chesterfield has undergone a boom in recent years. New construction projects have yielded new houses, new offices, and new shopping complexes. The influx of people and jobs have made Chesterfield the largest city in its county and the 14th largest city in the state.

Noted for its luxurious housing, Chesterfield offers a myriad of homes styles, from Colonial to contemporary. The neighborhood continues to gain more popularity among families of all backgrounds.

HISTORY

Chesterfield is known to have been a site of Native American habitation thousands of years ago. When Europeans settled the St. Louis Area, "Chesterfield" was the name given for the general area, a sub-region of western St. Louis County. This area contained several unincorporated historical communities whose names have a decidedly French/Cajun flair: Bellafontaine, Lake, Gumbo, Monarch, and Bonhomme. These communities now make up the city of Chesterfield.

ACCESSIBILITY

Chesterfield is just 35 minutes from downtown St. Louis. With several access points to a major highway, interstate 64/40, it’s accessible to every part of St. Louis.

CULTURE

The neighborhood dedicates much effort in making art a valuable part of the community. In 2011 it received a Creative Community Award by the Missouri Arts Council.

The Awakening, a spectacular sculpture cast by Seward Johnson, is on display near Central Park and the Abengoa building. It is 70 feet in length and 17 feet at it tallest point.
